A group of participants in Slow Money Maine met recently and agreed to enter into loan agreements with Jeff Wolovitz of Heiwa Tofu and Jaime Berhanu, tempeh producer at Lallibela Farm, for purchase of soybeans this Fall. The group is also pursuing conversations with MOFGA about creating an independent Microloan Fund and/or collaborating with the microlending group. Additional research is being done about creating an investment club model for those interested in pooling investments for microloans to farmers and producers.

Hello there,
I have been interested in SRI’s (socially responsible investing) for quite sometime now and up until now, have had a bit of difficult time gaining ground. BUT finally I believe we as a society are finding our feet. SO! I am interested in at some point, sooner than later, becoming an investor. Please keep in informed – which I know you will as I have just signed up for the newsletter. If there is additional info, as you gain it about the investing club – please keep me abreast. Just attended the Woody Tasch lecture at MOFGA and bought his book.
Thanks, A
