USM Food Studies Program: Closing Maine’s Hunger Gap: Exploring Myths, Realities, Solutions

This fall the University of Southern Maine Food Studies Program will be hosting a series entitled “Closing Maine’s Hunger Gap: Exploring Myths, Realities, Solutions.”

One in six Mainers and one in four Maine children are food insecure. Hunger is on the rise, and threatens the development of our children, the vitality of our workforce, and the strength of our communities. This series features two nationally recognized experts on poverty and food insecurity who will examine the fundamental causes of poverty and hunger, and who will explore the myths, realities, and proven solutions to this challenge.
