Over 40 people gathered at the Common Ground Country Fair on Saturday afternoon to learn more about Slow Money Maine. Thanks to Will Hopkins, Mary Ann Hayes and Norman Levesque from our Steering Committee (pictured below with Harold Clossey in the center and Heather Donahue listening in) for leading this enlivening exchange among Fairgoers.
Will Hopkins, as the Executive Director of Cobscook Bay Resource Center in Eastport, shared his experiences with SMM and Harold shared ways in which Sunrise County Economic Council has been working with loan funds to serve local farmers in Washington County. John Sharood attended and was able to share a bit about SMM’s work on an ag-fcoused statewide Credit Union. Heather Donahue of Balfour Farm was introduced through her Kickstarter program underway to upgrade a milkhouse for her expanding milk & cheese operation. Romey Haines added perspectives from Aroostook County on SMM-related projects and Maine Organic Lenders, one of the investment clubs spun off from SMM, was represented with brand-new beautiful brochures for interested borrowers.
