Cheryl King Fischer from NEGEF saw this film about economic alternatives at the New Economics Institute Conference in June and encourages us to see it. It will be shown throughout the country in July. In Maine, it will be in Portland on July 18th, Waterville on July 30th and in Belfast, Blue Hill and Norway on dates TBD. Check the link below for details.
From Cheryl: “On July 18th, grab your neighbor and head to a local screening of Fixing the Future, an important documentary that will spark ideas & dialogue for your community. You’ll be glad you did!
In Fixing the Future, host David Brancaccio (of public radio’s Marketplace and NOW on PBS) visits locations across America that are using sustainable and innovative approaches to create jobs and build prosperity, inspiring hope and renewal amidst economic collapse. The film highlights effective, local practices such as: local business alliances, community banking, time banking/hour exchange, worker cooperatives and local currencies. These issues are particularly relevant to New England, where NEGEF is proud to support so many incredible grassroots efforts!”
